Part of the MIT400 version 2 series, the Megger MIT420/2 is capable of insulation testing up to 1000V and 200GΩ, as well as continuity testing up to 1MΩ. With the ability to measure AC/DC voltage up to 600V TRMS and Polarisation Index (PI) and Dielectric Absorption Ratio (DAR) functions, the MIT420/2 offers a wide range of applications including electrical installations, cable testing, motor testing, automotive, ESD, panel building, avionics and general maintenance.
Featuring test voltages of 50V, 100V, 250V, 500V and 1000V, the MIT420/2 can test insulation up to 200GΩ. The insulation testing on the Megger MIT420/2 has been enhanced to increase test voltage accuracy. This model has feedback controlled test voltages to limit over-voltage to 2%, rather than the industry standard 10-20%, to ensure it remains within specification throughout the full test range. A test inhibit function is present on the Megger MIT420/2 which prevents testing if voltages in excess of 25 V, 30 V, 50 V, 75 V and 100 V (set by the user) are detected when making insulation tests (default is 50 V). An insulation buzzer is also featured, that can be set to buzz if the resistance is above a user adjustable limit (configurable in the set-up menu) and a test lock function can be used to hold the insulation test on continuously.

MIT420 Series Comparison of Models
The Megger MIT420/2 displays the live circuit voltage on all range by default and has the ability to test continuity. The MIT420/2 provides fast continuity testing on one single range (which adjusts automatically) from 0.01Ω, up to 1MΩ. Lead resistance compensation is also present on this meter, which can be operated up to 10 Ω of resistance, and the MIT420/2 features a continuity buzzer with an adjustable limit alarm. Additionally, the MIT420/2 has built-in memory, allowing over 1000 test results to be stored.
True RMS voltage can be measured using this unit, up to 600 V AC or DC with a resolution from 0.1 mV. Featuring a combination of analogue arc and a dual digital readout, the MIT420/2 has a large main digital readout for good visibility of all main measurement results and second digital display for additional data, such as insulation test voltage. The analogue arc shows essential charge and discharge characteristics not visible on a digital display with a single pointer “needle” response, similar to that of a moving coil meter.
The Megger MIT420/2 is ergonomically designed, with excellent grip and is housed in tough modified ABS case. The tester is sealed to IP54, making it weatherproof and is battery powered via 6 x AA batteries or a rechargeable NiMh battery (not included). The MIT420/2 also contains fast detecting circuitry to prevents damage to the instrument if it is accidentally connected to live circuits or across phases. Suitable for use on CAT IV applications and supply voltages to 600 V, the MIT420/2 is an easy to use insulation and continuity tester, from one of the leading megohmmeter manufacturers.
