The CHEMIST 500 combustion and flue gas analyser offers an enhanced set of features for more discerning users working in commercial and light industrial applications. Being exapndable from 2 gas sensors up to 4 gas sensors, the CHEMIST 500 spans a range of uses from straightforward combustion analysis to more advanced users, requiring up to 4 gas sensors for more advanced environments, such as commercial and industrial boilers, burners and furnaces, biofuels engineering, and engine emissions measurement in commercial and industrial engines. 

Increasing fuel efficiency, and getting the most out of the combustion process is paramount in today's industrial processes. The Chemist 500 is therefore the ideal gas analyser to confirm correct set up of combustion systems and engines, and identify any emissions problems. 

A strong feature of the CHEMIST 500 combustion analyser is the plug and play sensor technology which is integrated into the instrument, which allows the user to easily add more sensors or even change existing sensors in the field without the need to return the instrument for service. Each sensor is pre-calibrated. making it incredibly simple to add or change out sensors, as the instrument automatically detects when a sensor has been added or removed, and gives the user a prompt to accept the new configuration or ignore it. The sensors are the long life FLEX series which offer extended lifespan over standard sensors, and are supplied pre-calibrated ready to be simply plugged into the instrument. 

The CHEMIST 500 is built to rigorous standards to withstand harsher environments encountered in the applications in which it is used. It is housed within a hard wearing case with an outer rubber boot for extra protection, and also has a number of strong magnets built into the back of the casing, which means that it can be simply attached to a flat metallic surface without any hanging straps. The front of the instrument has a soft touch tactile keypad for controlling the instrument's functions and a large colour graphical display, with zoom function and permanent back light presents the user interface and readings in an orderly and concise manner for easy interaction. A self-diagnostic function also displays the status of the sensors and can display any status faults or warnings for the user. 

All CHEMIST 500 kits are supplied with a stainless steel 180 mm flue gas probe as standard (other probes are also available for high temperature, diesel fuel and longer shaft length), which has a 2m cable and air temperature probe (maximum working temperature of 400C). Additionally, the standard flue gas probe also has a built in water trap and dust filter to remove contaminants from the sampled gas before it enters the sensors. The hoses are made of silicon for long service life as silicon resists cracking. A printer is built into the CHEMIST 500 main instrument, which can print results, customisable by the user onto a thermal paper which is resistant to fading. 

CHEMIST 500 is powered by an internal rechargeable Lithium battery which can provide power to the instrument and it's integrated printer for up to 12 hours of continuous use. Charging time from 0 to 100% is approximately 6 hours. However, the CHEMIST 500 can also be powered by it's mains charger, which means that even if the battery runs flat, the instrument can still work under mains power. 

A number of pre-calibraterd gas sensors can be fitted to the CHEMIST 500, which makes it possible to have various configurations for maximum versatility. These combinations are offered in a number of kits from a 2 sensor set up, suitable for straightforward combustion measurements up to a 4 gas sensor configuration for more advanced combustion analysis, or measurement of engine emissions. An O2 sensor is always required for the instrument to function correctly, with up to a further 3 pre-calibrated gas sensors able to be installed into the CHEMIST 500 at any time. Users can choose from CO, NO, NO2, SO2 and CxHy (hydrocarbon). NOx is calculated by the instrument (as long as a NO cell is installed, and CO2 can be either calculated or directly measured with a gas sensor installed into the instrument. 

A wide range of measurement parameters are possible with the CHEMIST 500 combustion analyser, including flue gas analysis (with various installed gas sensors), draft measurement, gas pipe tightness test, differential pressure and temperature, gas pipe volume, outdoor air and room air temperature, ambient CO, combustion efficiency, excess air and stack loss, flow velocity (requires pitot tube), burning power. 

A built in memory for up to 1,000 analysis sets is standard across all kits, as it both USB and Bluetooth connectivity. All kits are also supplied with PC software for updating and downloading of results for further analysis and reporting. However, one of the latest features of the CHEMIST 500 is the Chemist Smart Analysis app which is available on both Android and iOS giving full remote control of the instrument. A further function is the ability of the instrument to generate a QR code which can be scanned into the Chemist QR Code app (android or iOS). each CHEMIST 500 has 15 pre-programmed fuels built in, with the ability for the user to add up to a further 16 user defined fuels
